Yes it’s true, this plant has been used for 1000’s of years & is still favored today. You find it in many homes & gardens & it also goes by many other names as well – Aloe barbadensis, First Aid Plant, True Aloe, African Aloe, Burn Plant and Miracle Plant, to mention a few.

My Aloe veras grow in pots year round outdoors & I hardly do a thing to them in terms of care. They also make fine houseplants (so fine that it’s included in my houseplant care book – see the link below) & are particularly handy to have growing in the kitchen. If you burn yourself that soothing fresh gel contained in the leaves is right there waiting for you. Head’s up because there are 2 important things you need to know to grow them successfully in your home. Hint, hint: they’re listed under the 1st 2 care tips in the post.

Sake began with a grain of rice. Scotch emerged from barley, tequila from agave, rum from sugarcane, bourbon from corn. Thirsty yet?  In The Drunken Botanist, Amy Stewart explores the dizzying array of herbs, flowers, trees, fruits, and fungi that humans have, through ingenuity, inspiration, and sheer desperation, contrived to transform into alcohol over the centuries.

Of all the extraordinary and obscure plants that have been fermented and distilled, a few are dangerous, some are downright bizarre, and one is as ancient as dinosaurs–but each represents a unique cultural contribution to our global drinking traditions and our history.

How to Grow Aloe Vera Plant Indoors | How to care aloe vera babies indoors in English

Aloe Vera Propagation and Offsets – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqakXvB-L9I

ALoe vera plant medicinal values – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOr_dq6NvBA

Aloe vera is a very popular succulent plant and I have already posted two videos on it – one was about separating the aloe vera babies from mother plant and repotting them independently and the second was regarding the medicinal values of aloe plant.
Now in this Video, am gonna show you How to grow Aloe vera plant indoors and how to take care of it. These are the same Aloe vera babies also called as Offsets, that we separated from mother plant a month ago. You can watch the previous videos and the links are above.

Aloe vera is easy to grow indoors as a potted plant, and makes a wonder houseplant. Given the proper care, these amazing plants can live for many, many years.
The good news is that aloe vera plants are super easy to grow plants whether indoors or outdoors, and they do very well in pots – of any size.
The Secret here is : There’s really not much to it, and guess what – your aloe vera might just do better if you ignore it, they thrive on neglect.
But, there are certain things you need to do to keep your aloe vera plant growing to it’s best. The two most important parts of aloe vera plant care are proper – watering and lighting.
The most common mistake people make when it comes to aloe vera plant care is overwatering. They donot require so much water as you think, they are succulents and already have lot of water and moisture stored in their leaves.
In nature, aloes grow in desert climates where they hardly get any rain. Aloe vera succulent plants hold water in their leaves, so they can go a very long time without water.
Overwatering will eventually cause the stem and roots of the plant to rot, eventually killing the whole plant. Obviously we definitely don’t want that to happen!
Remember one thing, Depending on the season you need to water them, like in summer you may need to water them frequently. Firstly check the soil for moisture – not just the upper layer of the soil, but a little below an inch. If its moist then donot water them. That’s it about watering.

The second most important thing about aloe vera plant care is proper lighting. Aloe vera plants will grow their best indoors when given good amount of light.
A south facing window would be the ideal spot, but they also grow well under artificial lights. If you don’t have enough sunlight in your home, then you should definitely use a grow light for your aloe vera.
Alternately, you can move your aloe vera plant twice a week into sunlight – preferably indirect sunlight, only if its not thriving indoors.
Lastly ! the Best Potting Soil For Aloe Vera Plants is one that drains very quickly, and doesn’t hold water – like cocopeat or a mix of cocopeat and soil or sand in any proportion to make it a well drained potting soil. Also, it does not require any fertilizer – whether organic or inorganic.

Price: $29.22 - $29.20
(as of Jan 31,2018 06:27:41 UTC – Details)

Snake Plants are a member of the Lily Family, and are named for their striped, vibrant leaves, which mimic the scales of a serpent. They are evergreens native to Africa. While they can grow up to twelve feet tall, they’re often kept as small houseplants because of their ease of care and durability, which has made them popular in recent years. In China, they are kept inside for Feng Shui near the entrances of homes to promote the Eight Virtues- intelligence, prosperity, long life, art, beauty, poetry, strength and health.SNAKE PLANT – also known as ”Mother-in-law-tounge” one of the toughest house plant, can stand in any conditions from dark to bright. In China, it is believed to be the plant where the Eight Gods bestowed their eight virtues to those who grew them. Snake Plant can help in air purification and usually placed near the entrance of the house or in restaurants following the manner of fengShui. Adaptable and easy to care plant. All-time favourite as an indoor plant and is one of the best houseplants
GROWING A SNAKE PLANT – doesn’t required much attention like other plants, it’s growth is still developing either you placed it to a dark or bright area. Snake Plant being one of the though plant doesn’t mean that it won’t be needing water anymore, like other plants Snake Plant requires an exact amount of water when the soil is dry and don’t do over watering because it can cause the plant to die
PRUNING – In maintaining the height of your Snake Plant in your preference, you can cut the individual leaves which you think is too tall or longer. This won’t affect the growth of your Snake Plant because the short ones will keep growing and preserve the character of the plant. If you want to develop more Snake Plant you can use the prune leaves and put it on an another pot

How To Care For Spider Plants Indoors

Spider plants are nice and easy to grow plants.
It is a good choice if you are just starting out growing plants and looking for something low maintenance.
Spider plants purify the air, which is a nice addition. You can easily propagate them with plantlets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEdedLEp8rI – so you will have a lots of spider plants at home very soon.

☆ How to care for spider plants: ☆

1. Soil requirements – 0:27
Spider plants do well in all kind of soil. You can use the regular all purpose flower soil (peat based). I have used this before and mixed it with perlite. This last step is not necessary, it just makes the soil more loose.
Spider plants also do well in coconut coir and perlite mixture. I planted some plantlets into this mixture 5 months ago and they grew so much, they are already growing their own plantlets. This is how spider plants will rule my home very soon. 🙂

2. Lights – 01:06
Spider plants enjoy lots of sunlight, just don’t forget to water it more in the summer, when temperature rises.
If the plant gets enough light it will grow faster, will have more vivid colors. Sunlight also encourages bloom for your plant. It doesn’t need to be old for this, my 5 month old spider plant already has buds on it. You can see it in the video: 2:42

The plant can tolerate less light, in this case it might loose its vivid color and it will grow slower.

3. Watering – 03:17
Let the soil dry out between waterings. You can keep it in dry soil for a few days. I usually water them once a week, maybe twice in summer if the plant looks very thirsty.
You can now that your spider plant is thirsty if the leaves curl up and their green color changes into a pale green / grey color.

It is fine to water them from the top or from the bottom, whichever method you like better. It is also ok if some water stays in the tray, the plant will drink that the next day.

4. Fertilising
I don’t give them too much fertiliser. Maybe every second or third month they get a little. Last year I only gave my plant fertiliser twice and it was still growing nicely.

Thank you for watching the video!
Good luck growing your own spider plants!
